The Assin Manso Slave River site stands as a powerful historical landmark, remembered as the final place where enslaved Africans were bathed before their forced march to the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles. Today, visitors to the river are invited to connect with this heritage by symbolically retracing the ritual of bathing, offering prayers to honor their ancestors, seeking guidance and protection, and asking forgiveness for the injustices inflicted upon them. We will then move to Cape Coast Castle to listen to the main history behind Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, what the slaves went through and so on. Finally, we will end it at the Kakam national park where you can hike through the Kakum forest to walk on the canopy walkway and back to your pickup point. You’ll also hear the profound history of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and gain insight into the experiences endured by the enslaved.
